Disrespectful Children Whose Fault?

Our responsibilities in children’s behavior

Everyone has heard complaints about how disrespectful children are to adults these days. Children are becoming increasingly disrespectful or misbehaving because parents, teachers, and governments have resigned from their different posts. They have failed to exercise their authority.

Some parents, due to a lack of time and pressures at work, try to buy their children’s love by meeting all their demands. In addition, some of the children might simply have never learned how to behave (to great, to say I am sorry…etc.). The only time we can see a child go to a friend’s house and call his /her friend’s mother and father Mrs. Smith or Mr. Smith is in movies.

Teachers who are supposed to teach but also educate the children are powerless due to the exaggerated protection. Everybody is complaining, but nothing serious is done. We notice that governments, especially in America, emphasize child protection, but a child does not have only a right; he/she also has a duty, and the fundamental one is respect. Teachers should be given some power to re-educate children; otherwise, it will be disastrous. Civics should be taught in school.

The position of the children in Western countries and America makes them unprepared for the realities of adult life, and this creates issues in every area of society. From home to the classroom, at work, and in the street, there is a high rate of depression, which leads to underage pregnancy, pre-teen alcoholism, etc.

It is high time any authority, parents, teachers, and the government took responsibility for the well-being of children, therefore the well-being of the future society.
